Recess a Needed Component of a Child’s School Day
It always amazes me when I read ‘research’ on something that, for parents at least, is completely intuitive. But research they must. The latest finding tells us… “play and down time may be as important to a child’s academic experience as reading, science and math, and that regular recess, fitness or nature time can influence behavior, concentration and even grades.” I know, you are probably blown away.
It is an interesting NY Times article, however, and I thought I’d put a link to it here in case any parents out there need some data to back up the claim that their child’s school should not cut recess (or in some sad cases, needs to reinstate it).
